We are fortunate to count on Kathy’s extensive non-profit experience and expertise to lead CGC’s impact on children and families who are dealing with grief and loss. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor with more than 20 years of experience of service to, and advocacy for, our border community, Kathy is passionate about service to children, youth, and families in promoting and sustaining their health and well-being. Kathy has deep experience and a strong background specifically in accompanying families who have experienced grief and loss. Additionally, Kathy brings both a strong direct service background and several years of progressive leadership experience in local non-profits to the role.

Kathy, along with her husband, their three children, have made El Paso home since 1998. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Peace & Justice Studies and Indiana University and a Masters degree in Social Work at the School for Social Services Administration at the University of Chicago. Kathy is fluent in Spanish and committed to the community’s cultural diversity, having lived and worked throughout Latin America, most notably in Cd. Juarez.

We are excited at Kathy’s commitment to build upon the Children’s Grief Center’s commitment to providing peer group services for children and youth confronting loss and grief. The Board of Directors are confident in Kathy’s ability to fulfill our vision to serve even more children and provide greater impact on the health and well-being of our community.

We are a non-profit organization that provides healing and hope in a safe and loving environment for grieving children, teens and their families following the death of a loved one. By sharing their experiences and feelings in a peer support group, families learn that they are not alone and that there is hope for their future.

Our goal is to strengthen the lives of grieving children and families by providing loving support and life affirming skills in a safe environment. We value the conscious choice that families make in committing to the difficult work of grief and support them through their efforts.

We believe that no child should grieve alone.
