The Children’s Grief Center has served the El Paso area as an incorporated non-profit children’s grief support service agency since 1995. The mission of the agency is to promote healing and emotional wellness for grieving children, teens and their families after the loss of a loved one by providing loving support and education.

The Children’s Grief Center is the only area agency specializing in and providing grief support services to children 5 to 19 and their surviving parents or guardians in the El Paso area. Our services are unique in that we offer grief support under the guidance of professionals and specially trained volunteer facilitators. Services are provided at the Center and identified schools as we partner with area districts to reach a diverse and underserved community. Our program is culturally responsive and promotes the mental well-being of children and families as they work through their grief journey.

In January 2025, CGC celebrates 30 years of serving the far west Texas region as a non-profit organization. We are the only children’s bereavement center in our region providing specialized grief support, grief education, and grief therapy services to children and youth (ages 5-24) who have been affected by the death loss of a loved one(s). We provide hope and healing in an inclusive and supportive environment. We serve all vulnerable youth affected, irrespective of the cause of death of their family member(s). We believe that no child should grieve alone. We are the region’s pre-eminent expert in childhood bereavement, serving as training and consulting resource hub to schools and other child-serving entities. We work with entire families, supporting the adults who are parenting through grief.

Our Vision

We believe that no child should grieve alone and that every child should have access to healing, health and hope through grief-informed communities.

Our Mission

We create compassionate and inclusive spaces that promote healing and well-being among grieving children, youth and their families through community-based peer groups, individual and family services, and grief-informed education and advocacy.
